TIEKA  (AFRIKAANS VERSION)

Tieka jou mond maak n plooi tuit

‘Proto sesame buns’ met warm ‘chips’ is my ouma se ding

‘Republic Shoe Repairs’ maak pad hier kom Jan Wilkens aangery!

TIEKA  (ENGLISH VERSION)

Tieka your mouth makes a pleated funnel

and then breaks the glimmering shimmering shine

your eyes sparkle with a sudden ‘...your bum will shout London!’

Hey, watch out you!

Tieka your 70 Berg Avenue sits firm in the sleeve of the gown

Your firm silver feathers shines in the sparkling dew

Pastor Fourie’s ‘Alberton’ words are strong in the church

The radio confirms it, and broadcast the same

Your Rachel and your children lies snug, deep, and strong under your wing

their eyes are only on you...

The Strong Milk just keeps on flowing from under the threshold of the Throne

The breakwater may come and go, but the Words of Tieka stands strong, unshaken

‘Proto sesame buns’ with hot chips are my nana’s thing

‘Quickly go get us some hot bread from across the road’

The hammers bang and the shoe stretcher stretches to the point of death and no return,

but all we can remember is the smell of fresh hot bread, butter, and a lovely cup of Joko tea...

‘Clink, clank, ping, ring-a-ting, tink’ says the old cash register-another big fat note in the little ‘press box!’

Tieka your ‘Apache’ hums and roars with a turquoise smile...

‘Republic Shoe Repairs’ watch out here comes Jan Wilkens!

Bill Windell’s big strong chest struggles to cover his huge warm heart

Bill and Tieka, solid Windell rocks, how will we ever escape your endearing love?
